Project Overview

North Queensland’s hardwood forestry and timber sector contributes significantly to regional economies but is currently constrained by limited access to native hardwood resources and underutilised processing capacity. The North Queensland Regional Forestry Hub commissioned an economic impact assessment (EIA) to provides a comprehensive assessment of the hardwood sector’s economic potential under different harvesting and processing scenarios, highlighting opportunities to increase regional output, reduce import reliance, strengthen local jobs and support broader socioeconomic outcomes.
